The Jericho Historical Society was formed in 1971 to restore and preserve Chittenden Mills.  Its mission expanded to that of preserving the rich history of Jericho, Vermont, and the legacy of Wilson "Snowflake" Bentley. The Society's headquarters is located in the historic Chittenden Mills (c. 1885), a national historic site.

  • Railroads!  The Underhill and Jericho Historical Societies present "Central Vermont’s Burlington and Lamoille Railroad," a talk by James R. “Jim” Jones.

Jim is a Burlington native and lifelong rail enthusiast with a legacy in the industry dating back to 1916. The son of renowned railroad author Robert C. Jones, Jim has spent nearly 60 years documenting Vermont’s "underdog" lines through his company, Tell-Tale Productions. An accomplished author and filmmaker, Jim specializes in "lost" routes, most recently chronicling the Burlington and Lamoille Railroad. His presentations are known for blending deep archival research with rare photography and a storyteller’s touch, keeping Central Vermont’s unique locomotive history alive.

  • The Jericho Historical Society is excited to partner with Lyric Theatre for their production of Disney's Frozen on the Flynn main stage in Burlinton.  From the Lyric: "Real snowflakes. Real history. Real inspiration. Using original photographs by Wilson ‘Snowflake' Bentley, set designer Tomomi Ueda shares her vision for incorporating Bentley’s actual snowflakes into the set of Disney’s Frozen — weaving Vermont history directly into the world onstage. From microscope to stage, this is how legacy becomes design."  Learn more about the production on Lyric's Facebook page.

  • Where did they go?  Beginning in the 1920’s, land was procured in Jericho for what is now a Vermont National Guard post. Did you ever wonder what happened to the folks who lived on that land?  Terri Hook did.  Learn what he found about where the families who lived on the land currently occupied by the Ethan Allen Firing Range ended up.
